JHUAN impacts students throughout their entire Howard University academic journey, starting as early as high school by supporting Jamaican students in their transition to Howard. We help fill critical financial gaps and provide mentorship throughout their time on campus, and now we need your help to ensure they cross the finish line.
Several extraordinary Jamaican Howard University scholars are days away from graduation, and days away from having that dream deferred. These young people have done the hard work. They’ve shown up. They’ve studied through late nights, shown resilience through setbacks, and earned their place at one of the most prestigious HBCUs in the world — Howard University. One outstanding balance should not be the thing that stands between them and their diploma. For many students of Jamaican descent, the path to a degree comes without the safety nets. No nearby family to lean on. No fallback when a financial gap appears. Just grit, faith, and the hope that the community will show up when it matters most.
That’s where our community comes in.
The Jamaica Howard University Affinity Network (JHUAN) is launching an emergency campaign to ensure these Class of 2026 graduates can cross the stage before the April 24 deadline. After that, they will not be allowed to participate in graduation.
Let’s not allow that to happen. This is about more than a balance — it’s about years of sacrifice, families’ dreams, and futures ready to begin.
Every contribution moves them closer. Let’s show up. Let’s get them across the stage.
